Tinkergarten provides high-quality early childhood learning in the healthiest classroom of all—the outdoors. Families connect with trained leaders in their local community for play-based kids classes that help develop core life skills, all while having fun!
As a young girl, I spent my days exploring the woods near my house in Connecticut with my siblings and family dog as my guides. These experiences sparked my love of nature and true care for the wildlife that surrounds us. My concern for wild animals led me to volunteer at a wildlife rehabilitation center on the weekends while nurturing young minds as an elementary school teacher during the week. Although I am no longer teaching full-time, I find every teachable moment with my most challenging students - my 3 year old son and 2 year old daughter. My husband and I enjoy imparting our love of nature on hikes and treks wherever we visit and live. We have lived in a few states (Delaware, New York, Virginia, Oregon, and Tennessee) and we enjoy exploring wherever we find ourselves. I cannot think of a better way to combine the joy I find in nature, my love of children, and my enthusiasm as a teacher than being a Tinkergarten leader. I think children should try to embrace living in harmony with nature by exploring outside, where they can feel mentally and physically rejuvenated. As Henry David Thoreau once said, "I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees." I hope you can join us and find yourselves “taller” through our experiences together!
