"Teaching children about the natural world should be treated as one of the most important events in their lives."-Thomas Berry. Kate was fortunate enough to grow up on a farm surrounded by acres of forest. Her days out of school were filled, building forts, catching bullfrogs, getting lost in the woods, climbing trees, eating out of the garden, & sitting on "big John" (a huge Hereford bull). All these activities solidified her love of the natural world & she brings this energy into her art, teaching, & life. Kate has a BFA in art and has been using her creativity in her teaching throughout her career, being a big believer in enabling others to develop their own capacities rather then just handling their needs for them. Kate has been weaving strong nature connection into her art, bringing the wild into her garden & raising her two children to revel in their curiosity about the natural world.
